The Council of the European Union is active in many policy areas. Its work is divided into nine Council configurations, in which the responsible ministers of the Member States meet for regular consultations. The meetings are prepared by various committees and working groups, each of which is chaired by a representative of the Presidency of the Council.
The categories below represent the nine Council configurations. The European Council is included as a separate category, explaining the subjects dealt with at the meetings of Heads of State and Government.
