Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has invited the European members of the International Somalia Contact Group (Britain, Italy, Sweden and Norway), High Representative for the CFSP Javier Solana and European Commissioner for Development and Humanitarian Aid Louis Michel to an informal meeting, which will take place tomorrow (3 January).
The purpose of the meeting is to take stock of the current situation in Somalia and coordinate European efforts to contribute to the peace and reconciliation process in the country.
The meeting will take place at the Permanent Representation of the Federal Republic of Germany to the European Union (8-14, Rue Jacques de Lalaing, Brussels). At the end of the meeting (approx. 14.00 h) the Presidency will host a meet-the-press session at the same venue.
