The informal meeting of environment ministers offers a forum for an intensive exchange of views on the issue of “environment - innovation - employment”. Discussions will be held on the opportunities for the environment, business and employment offered by the promotion of eco-innovations. The environment ministers will propose an integrated strategy for promoting this important field in Europe.

A trade fair will be taking place in parallel to the meeting, with national and European exhibitors presenting modern environmental technologies (ECOTEC). For more information on ECOTEC see www.ecotec2007.eu.

In addition to the environment ministers of the EU member states, candidate countries and EFTA states, representatives of EU Community bodies, non-governmental organisations and industry will also participate.

The online accreditation for the Informal Meeting of EU Environment Ministers in Essen on 1 and 2 June has now been completed. Late accreditation is possible on Friday and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. in the media centre (Medienzentrum) at the Zeche Zollverein site. Please bring you press pass and an official form of identification with you. Please understand that this late accreditation process may take some time. Access to the media centre and the press conferences will not be possible without accreditation. Accreditation is not required for a visit to the ECOTEC exhibition.
