It is customary for the country holding the EU Presidency to organize informal meetings at which ministers discuss topical EU-related issues. The meetings enable those taking part to engage in a free exchange of ideas. They are not Council sessions and therefore cannot replace the Council's normal activities. No official agenda is drawn up and meetings cannot arrive at formal conclusions or decisions.
There will be 14 informal ministerial meetings during the German Presidency.
