The European Union has taken note of the information just provided by the distinguished Ambassador of Belarus on recent developments in the situation of the Belarus Helsinki Committee.
The EU welcomes the fact that the Presidential Administration’s property management department has signed a new rental agreement with the Belarus Helsinki Committee. We hope that this respected human rights organization will be able to continue its important work without impediment.
The Candidate Countries Turkey, Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia*, the Countries of the Stabilisation and Association Process and potential candidates Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and Serbia, EFTA countries Iceland and Norway, members of the European Economic Area, as well as Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova align themselves with this statement.
* Croatia and the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia continue to be part of the Stabilisation and Association Process.
