The Education, Youth and Culture Council brings together the Ministers responsible for education, culture, youth and communications from the 27 Member States. It meets three or four times a year.
During the German Presidency, Federal Minister Annette Schavan will preside over the Education Council, while Federal Minister for Social Affairs Ursula von der Leyen will chair the Youth Council. Minister of State Bernd Neumann will represent Germany in cultural and media affairs and assume the Presidency in this area in the first half of 2007.
