As one aspect of its media work and public relations for the German EU Presidency, the Federal Foreign Office is promoting the exhibition "Hi! Europe Calling!" in more than 70 countries and in 22 languages. In Finland the exhibition was opened by the Finnish Foreign Minister, and in Rome by the Italian EU Commissioner Frattini. It will be on show at Helsinki Central Station, Rome and Naples airports and in the Austrian and Lithuanian Parliaments.
The exhibition features photos and brief texts on areas of science and technology, economics, culture and society in which the European Union is changing the world at the highest level. The selected images promote the development of a European identity by putting Europe in a global context and showing examples of successful European cooperation. By promoting the successes of European integration during its EU Presidency, Germany is also promoting itself as a country of convinced Europeans.
