On 16 March 2007 the social partners conference "Employment and Social Dialogue within the framework of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership" will take place. The venue will be the Federal Foreign Office in the morning and the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in the afternoon. This conference has been organized under Germany’s EU Presidency by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Federal Foreign Office in conjunction with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
The conference will focus for the first time on employment-related and sociopolitical issues in the context of the Euro-Mediterranean Partnership. Representatives from unions and employers' associations in Euro-Mediterranean countries and from governments in the North and the South will join experts and EU Commission members in Berlin to discuss these topics.
The conference will be opened on Friday (16 March) by Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Gerd Andres, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. Proceedings at the Federal Foreign Office until 11 a.m., will be open to the media, as will all the proceedings at the Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
