On 15 March 2007, the consumer policy in the digitalised world will take centre stage at a conference hosted by the EU Council Presidency "Challenges and Opportunities in a Digitalised World. The Role of Consumer Policy". This conference coincides both with the World Consumer Rights Day and the opening day of the Cebit. Hence, two thematic areas that are closely interlinked and important for economic growth - innovations and consumer policy - will be in the public focus.
Key topics of the conference are, for example, opportunities of digitalisation for consumers and industry, examples of application such as the assessment of credit-worthiness through so-called scoring and questions regarding the security in the data network. The Conference is also expected to inject key momentum into the consumer policy strategy of the European Commission.
On this occasion, Federal Minister Horst Seehofer and Dr. Meglena Kuneva, Commissioner for Consumer Protection, will be available to answer your questions.
