Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier will meet the Coordinators of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), a European Parliament group, on Thursday, 11 January.
The aim of the trip by the ALDE Coordinators, i.e. the parliamentary spokespersons, is an exchange of ideas with the German Government at the beginning of Germany's EU Presidency. The talks with Federal Minister Steinmeier will therefore focus on the priorities of the German Presidency programme. These include the future of the Constitutional Treaty and the themes of energy and enlargement.
The ALDE Coordinators will also hold talks with Federal Justice Minister Zypries, Federal Environment Minister Gabriel and Federal Economics Minister Glos, and with officials at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and the Federal Ministry of Finance.
