On 29 and 30 January 2007, a conference entitled "ESDP: From Cologne to Berlin and Beyond. Operations, Institutions, Capabilities" will be held at the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin. This conference has been organized under Germany’s EU Presidency by the Federal Foreign Office and the EU Institute for Security Studies.
Since its inception at the Cologne European Council of 1999, the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP) has developed very dynamically. With Germany once again holding the EU Council Presidency, this is therefore an opportunity for us to take stock and to look ahead to future developments and challenges. Representatives from the EU institutions and EU Member State institutions will be joined in Berlin by experts from think-tanks and the scientific community to address these issues.
The conference will be opened on Monday, 29 January, by Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, by the High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, and by NATO Secretary-General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer. This part of the conference is open to the media.
Please register with the Press Division of the Federal Foreign Office by Friday, 26 January, 17.00 h
