Tomorrow, Wednesday (7 February), Federal Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, together with Hartmut Mehdorn, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board of Management of Deutsche Bahn AG, will present an ICE locomotive decorated with the logo of the German EU Presidency.
In reaction to Mr Steinmeier's suggestion, Deutsche Bahn AG has agreed to decorate a total of around 50 ICE and IC locomotives with the EU logo for the duration of the German EU Presidency.
Mr Steinmeier issued the following statement:
"I am pleased that Deutsche Bahn is decorating its trains with the EU logo. For the next months Germany will be Europe's "face and voice", a fact Deutsche Bahn will demonstrate to the millions of Germans and their guests who use the trains."
Hartmut Mehdorn added:
"For Deutsche Bahn AG Europe is the future, as borders no longer exist for us. Therefore we were happy to comply with the request to advertise this fact on many of our trains."
