The EU Member States have transposed EU directives faster than ever before. On average, only 1.2 % of directives applying in the EU’s internal market are not transposed on time; for Germany, the figure is just 1 %.
Michael Glos, Federal Minister of Economics and Technology, said: “As chairman of the Competitiveness Council, I am very glad that the member states have successfully increased their efforts to transpose European law. I am particularly pleased by the figure for Germany: with a transposition deficit of one percent, we are better than the EU average. This is a decisive step towards the strengthening of the internal market.”
Glos underlined that he continues to attach high priority to the transposition of EU directives. The time has therefore come for even more ambitious targets for the EU Member States: “In the context of the German Presidency, we have suggested that the current target of a maximum transposition deficit of 1.5 % be lowered to 1 %.”
