EU Presidency statement on the Litvinenko case
In the light of the extradition request made to the Government of the Russian Federation by the British Government on 28 May 2007, the EU Presidency expresses its hope that all necessary steps will be taken to resolve the murder of Alexander Litvinenko. It expects the Russian judicial system to cooperate constructively with the British authorities. It stresses the European Union's earnest desire to see the case fully resolved and the culprits punished.
