Aachen

Aachen will be the venue for the Informal Meeting of Health Ministers on 19/20 April 2007.

City at the heart of Europe

In the Middle Ages Aachen was the seat of emperors and kings, and the scene of many coronations and imperial diets. Its hot springs made this city, at the foot of the Eifel hills, the favourite residence of Charlemagne, who built a palace here. The cathedral (UNESCO World Heritage site) and the Gothic town hall form the heart of the old quarter. The modern Carolus thermal baths and Aachen casino are also well worth a visit.

Bad Pyrmont

Bad Pyrmont will be the venue for the Informal Meeting of Ministers for Family Affairs/Gender Equality on May 15/16 2007.

The bath of the princes

Bad Pyrmont, situated in the middle of the charming Weserbergland, became a very famous health resort in Germany among the other reasons because of its long tradition. It develeoped into a modern spa because of its attractive offers for wellness, health and entertainment. Moreover the mineral souces and the nice athmosphere provide an unforgettable stay.

Bonn will be the venue for the Informal Meeting of Ministers for Development Cooperation on 12/13 March 2007.

Birthplace of Beethoven

Today, Bonn is a vibrant university city, a cultural centre that hosts prestigious concerts and exhibitions, a centre for technologies of the future and the headquarters for several United Nations organisations. People in and around Bonn really know how to enjoy the good things in life. In the summer they head for the wine bars along the Rhine to enjoy the views of the Siebengebirge hills where Riesling wines are produced.

Bremen will be the venue for the Ministerial Conference: Partnership and Responsibility – Together Against HIV/AIDS on 12/13 March 2007 and for the Informal Meeting of Foreign Affairs Ministers ("Gymnich") on 30 /31 March 2007.

Home of the Bremen Town Musicians

Bremen is a city of contrasts: UNESCO world heritage town hall with Roland statue, Weser embankment, Schnoor quarter - and a centre of science for more than ninety years. Shipbuilding, aircraft construction, space stations and rocket stages have cemented Bremen's reputation as the home of high-tech industry.

Dresden will be the venue for the Informal Meeting of Ministers for Justice and Home Affairs from 14-16 January 2007.

City of art and culture on the Elbe

The city's cultural scene blends the traditional and the modern. The Elbe Valley around Dresden, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site, boasts lush meadows, magnificent villas and majestic palaces. Few other cities have are undergoing such radical transformation as Dresden. The construction boom of recent years has produced a number of architectural masterpieces that are attracting international acclaim.

Essen will be the venue for the Informal Meeting of Environment Ministers from 1-3 June 2007.

Modern metropolis at the heart of the Ruhr area

Essen, at the heart of the Ruhrgebiet, attracts visitors in droves. People come to see the industrial monuments of the past, especially the UNESCO World Heritage Zollverein coal mine, but also Essen's museums, Villa Hügel and the minster. The Aalto Opera House has an international reputation, while fans of musicals are well catered for at the Colosseum Theatre.

Historical shopping arcades, lovingly restored, are typical of the architecture in the city centre.
