Rostock and Rügen, Hanseatic towns and Heiligendamm, red-brick Gothic-style buildings and coastal resort architecture, the Mecklenburg Lakelands and Baltic beaches – Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is now Germany’s favourite holiday destination. Caspar David Friedrich (1774–1840) immortalized the region’s charm in his paintings. We present a new picture of this federal state, modern Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.
